SOLLEN is delighted to announce its collaboration with Guillaume Neves from the Paolo workshop for the creation of SOLLEN tufted rugs. For this carpet project, we chose Guillaume Neves, who uses a particular technique in the creation of his carpets: tufting. This artisanal technique consists of inserting wool onto a stretched canvas using a tufting gun. This art makes it possible to make creations with a comfortable and soft design, which correspond to the image of SOLLEN.
There are several tufting methods, including hand tufting, machine tufting and button tufting. Hand tufting is the most traditional method and involves the use of a tufting gun, which is a hand-held tool used to push fabric and yarn through the backing material. Machine tufting, on the other hand, uses a specialized tufting machine to create the tufts.
Button tufting involves attaching small buttons to the surface of the fabric, which are then secured with thread to create the tufts. One of the main advantages of tufting is that it allows great flexibility in customization and design. Tufting can be used to create a wide variety of patterns and textures, and it can also be used to add visual interest to a textile. Additionally, tufting is a relatively durable and long-lasting decoration technique, making it a popular choice for use in upholstered furniture and other textiles that will be subject to regular wear and tear.
In conclusion, tufting is a decorating technique that involves using tufts, or small groups of fabric, attached with thread to a backing material. It can be used to create a wide variety of patterns and designs, and it is often used to add texture and depth to textiles. Tufting is a durable, long-lasting decoration technique that is commonly used in the manufacture of upholstered furniture and other textiles.
